Austin Gold - Headlining Peterborough Beer Festival August 2023

I reached out to the band and asked them if it would be possible to come along and take some photos at their headline show on the Friday night. After a few converstaions I met them the week before during a performance at a local bar. I shared the images from that show and they invited me to the Beer Festival show.

Joining the band backstage during soundcheck and having full access throughout the evening, I ended up taking about 600 pictures with around half of them being edited and shared with the band, these are some of my favourites.

Concert photography presents a number of challenges, I watched a number of videos and read loads about the craft and from the results I feel it was time well spent.

I used my Canon 6D in full manual mode, lens was mostly the amazing EF 24-70 F2.8 L Mk2, I did however put the EF 70-200 F2.8 L on for a few pictures. Shutter speed was a compromise because I wanted to keep the iso as low as i could, in the end I settled on 1/160, iso 1600 and F2.8.

This is my favourite picture of the evening, I think it capture the energy and passion perfectly.
